The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command was a sportsman himself and was very happy with the national titles Murli had won for his Command. As a reward he asked Murli if he wanted to go on a trip sponsored by the army. I had not taken any leave from the day I had joined. Pravas Vadali Divyancha

Author: Sharda Gaikwad

Go India's Sporting Transformation

Author: Nandan Kamath, Aparna Ramchandran

I was stunned to read that Farman Basha defeated able bodied athletes in powerlifting and that the federation passed a rule which then prohibited the differently abled from competing against so-called ‘normal’ lifters. I would have thought that vice versa would have been the rule. And this pint-sized Hercules has never lost in the Indian Nationals in the last twenty years, has been ranked fourth and fifth in two Paralympics, is the Asian champion and has been awarded the Arjuna Award-but our society could not even offer him a job!
